A Brief History
The GCGRS has built and maintained three portable layouts throughout it’s history.
The first iteration had real scenery. This display was super-ceded by the hexagonal design by Paul Busse.

The club built the modules in three sessions at the Watson’s warehouse. Members could take a module(s), decorate it and bring it to train shows. The new design was very versatile and was built to fit LGB track dimensions at a length of 46.5″. The modules were originally built with collapsible 1X3″ legs that soon proved to be unreliable and were replaced with 1″ aluminum conduit legs screwed into a flange, the same legs and design we currently use on our current modules. We participated in numerous shows in the Greater Cincinnati area and even travelling to Columbus, Ohio.

Current Design
In 2012 the hex modules were repurposed to create a new modular display based on the famous Sundance Central with slight modifications. We still use the rectangular yard modules from the former hex display.
