Robert Stanley Ampulski, 81, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Thursday, June 27th, 2024. He was born September 22, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of late Stanley and Lucille Ampulski. He was the oldest of 7 siblings. On August 7, 1965, he married Barbara Czachorski.
Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife and had many hobbies, trains, fishing, cross-country skiing, photography, playing the accordion and woodworking. He was a member of the Greater Cincinnati Garden Railway Society (past officer from 2012-2016), The BierBand, Jack Frost Accordion Band, former WOBO radio host for a polka segment, an involved member and usher for Sacred Heart Church, and a member of Father Roettele Knights of Columbus, #8115, among others.
Bob had a garden railway and participated in a number of GCGRS layout tours. He hosted one meeting, it was a day when weather predictions were quite iffy and many members shied away from attending because of it. Only nine members were in attendance. The meeting was conducted indoors. Despite the small number of attendees it was a very good meeting. A few years ago, Bob fell while working on his garden railroad and suffered a severe head injury which required a long recovery. His GCGRS participation pretty much ended at that time. – Larry Koehl.
